Job Summary: This position directs all activities of a single store location with responsibility for profit and loss. In coordination with Division Manager, establishes sales and profitability goals, manages proper fleet levels, responsible for the effective leadership of branch employees and drives a safety-first culture. Plans and establishes systems to control expenses at the branch location. Ensures high operational excellence standards, through equipment availability and reliability to customers.

The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices daily: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development.

Essential Functions:

  • Hires, develops, evaluates, and influences effective and consistent productivity and teamwork to ensure the delivery of Legendary Customer Service (LCS)
  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
  • Manages branch operations and personnel
  • Assists with equipment demonstrations and technical support
  • Drives Sales and Marketing initiatives, market share, and customer retention
  • Establishes high safety standards for audits, training, and compliance with State, Federal, OSHA, and DOT regulations, drug and alcohol testing, and the safe equipment maintenance program within the branch
  • Recruits, trains, develops, and retains qualified employees; Communicates job expectations and fosters a climate conducive to optimizing performance and outcomes
  • Supports the Division Manager and Outside Sales Representatives by providing a thorough understanding of market conditions including current customers, potential customers, and competitors for assigned territory
  • Responsible for the product quality of the branch to include, equipment, on time deliveries, service response, showroom, etc.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates all rental equipment operations within the branch supervised
  • Fosters a customer-focused approach to operations, sales, and service
  • Reviews product offering and works with support departments to optimize profitable market share growth and financial performance
  • Ensures accurate financial reporting and budget preparation
  • Driven and results oriented; business development and KPIs to meet corporate targets
  • Works safely always and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong technical aptitude and understanding of Trench Safety and rental industry
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services including marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data
  • Knowledge of Trench Safety gear and equipment, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Coaching/mentoring experience with branch personnel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • First-class presentation skills before both small and large groups
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work with all levels of personnel within the organization and customer operations
  • Ability to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
  • Ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division quickly and accurately
  • Ability to interpret extensive technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and understand several abstract variables to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in business management, Administration, or Construction Management preferred
  • Five or more years of experience in business management and/or operational management with increasingly progressive job scope and responsibilities
  • Three to five years of retail or store management experience in Trench Safety Industry
  • Proficiency in MS Office, with an emphasis on Excel and Outlook, and the use of computer applications

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching and development; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Travel:

  • Up to 30% travel
  • Valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements:

  • This position involves extended periods in a stationary position; additionally, occasional movement inside the office to access office machinery, filing cabinets, etc.
  • This role frequently communicates with others, must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
  • Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
  • Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
  • Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
  • Ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climb up and down ladder
  • Be able to safely maneuver throughout the yard / warehouse
  • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work
  • Safety training required; PPE required outside of office/parking lot area

Work Environment:

  • This job is generally performed in a professional office environment
  • Occasionally work outdoors and may be exposed to weather extremes conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity
  • The noise level may be loud at times
  • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment
  • On occasion time spent in confined spaces and high places
  • Frequently works at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions
